Mark McGrath

Mark McGrath never slows down. In 1988, he co-founded the multiplatinum, chart-topping pop-rock institution Sugar Ray with lead guitarist Rodney Sheppard. The group has sold more than 10 million records, scored four Top 10 singles, amassed hundreds of millions of streams, and sold millions of concert tickets. Among their many highlights, Sugar Ray released the triple-platinum 14:59, powered by era-defining hits including “Every Morning,” “Someday,” and “Falls Apart.” They continued their hot streak with their self-titled album, which became their first-ever Top 10 debut on the Billboard 200 and featured the hit “When It’s Over.” Beyond Sugar Ray, McGrath has worked as a songwriter with artists and producers ranging from Harry Fraud to Action Bronson. In 2019, he joined forces with Emerson Hart of Tonic and Kevin Griffin of Better Than Ezra to form the supergroup Ezra Ray Hart. He has also graced the covers of Rolling Stone, Spin, and Teen People, and made a memorable appearance in the penultimate episode of The Office. McGrath spent more than a decade performing as part of Camp Freddy, the blockbuster covers band co-founded by Dave Navarro and Billy Morrison. Following the group’s dissolution in 2014, he joined Navarro and Morrison to launch Royal Machines. Outside of music, McGrath has built an extensive career in television and entertainment. He co-hosted Extra from 2004 to 2008 and hosted cultural staples including The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, NBC’s Radio Music Awards, MTV’s Rock N’ Jock, the World Music Awards, The CW’s The Pussycat Dolls Present, and Don’t Forget the Lyrics! He has appeared on a wide range of television programs and reality shows, including American Idol, The Celebrity Apprentice, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and the first U.S. season of Celebrity Big Brother, where he finished in third place. He also emerged victorious three times on VH1’s Rock & Roll Jeopardy! As an actor, McGrath has appeared in films including Scooby-Doo, Sharknado 2: The Second One, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!, and Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser. He currently hosts his own SiriusXM program, Mark McGrath’s 120 on ’90s on 9. With more Sugar Ray music on the horizon and plenty of other surprises in store, Mark McGrath shows no signs of slowing down.
